  • PRE – PRIMARY SCHOOL

    The Pre -Primary School Program at Fortuna Schools comprises of Play Group , Nursery, Lower and Upper Kindergarten (LKG and UKG). Early childhood education serves as the foundation for all future learning. It is the period of learning to learn.

    Play Group:
    Age Group : 2- 3 Years
    Early experiences in the first few years of life are important for acquisition of skills as maximum brain development happens during this period . Key area in Play Group curriculum is Learning by exploration , Encouraging positive peer interaction , Building communication skills , Promoting cognitive development , Opportunities for Fine and Gross motor development , Language Readiness & Math Readiness .

  • Nursery:
    Age Group : 3- 4 Years

    Quality education in the early years of Pre School sets a firm foundation in the overall development of a child. Nursery curriculum provides a right array of activities to help children move towards achieving their early learning Goals . In Nursery, Kids are engaged in school readiness activities such as reading, writing, counting, number recognition and problem solving in a fun filled but purposeful manner. Kids are encouraged to corroborate their learning through collaborative activities . Key area in Nursery curriculum – Enhancing communication skills , Opportunities for Fine and Gross motor development , Theme based Concept Time , Expression through art and drama , Promoting cognitive development , Math and Language Skill Development . 

  • Kindergarten:

    Lower Kindergarten (LKG) : 4- 5 Years
    Upper Kindergarten (UKG): 5- 6 Years

    We believe in the true meaning of the word ‘Kindergarten’ which means ‘ Children’s Garden ‘. We feel that children are like flowers and they too need to be cultivated, watered and cared for. This is made possible through a collective effort from our teachers and all family members .

    The transition from Pre School to Primary school is a crucial time of change for both Kids as well as their Parents. At Fortuna, the Kindergarten curriculum ensures smooth transition to formal schooling with meaningful and progressive learning experiences.

    In addition to age-appropriate activities in Kindergarten, which prepare a child for success in formal school; various other activities are conducted in the areas of Language, Numbers , General Knowledge, Music, Art in a planned manner throughout the program. Through these activities , children learn the alphabet , words and letter sounds, numbers and simple math and master early writing skills. Furthermore, each child’s development is measured thrice in a year through well designed assessment .
    The assessment is designed to motivate a child in nurturing his unique potential .

  • Key Areas in Kindergarten Curriculum: Personal Social and Emotional Development , Cognitive development , Theme based Concept Time , Math readiness , Language and Phonics , Inculcating Life-long learning skills

    Lower Kindergarten Program (LKG) is composed to stimulate and satisfy the child’s curosity. In addition to social development and inculcating good habits, social manners & etiquettes also focuses on letter recognition and sounds, handwriting, sight words, reading, readiness, simple math concepts, and exploring the world around us through science, social studies and technology.

  • In the Upper Kindergarten (UKG) , the focus is on building vocabulary and applying the concepts which the children have already learnt in Lower Kindergarten (LKG) . Children learn to read and write, using innovative learning methods and tools designed especially for this age group. Complex subjects like Math are taught using a child-centric approach, considering individual capacities and capabilities. The focus of this program is on enhancing the attention span of the children with a view to accelerate their learning process and prepare them for extensive studies in the future.

    Students are directed towards independent learning and are guided to take on more responsibility. The main objective of this stage is to help the children make connections between the meaningful experiences in life and the courses of study . Now the stage is set for shaping the future based on subject preferences and skills gained. During this stage, the main objective is to hone the knowledge and skills gained at the Primary school.

    FORTUNA SHINE SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

    The Senior Secondary School offers students the opportunity to tailor their studies according to their individual interests, abilities and future plans within the national curriculum framework. The students are guided to choose subjects based on their interests and future plans, be it Commerce, Sciences, Arts, with the respective elective subjects of their stream.
